Friars Mill, which welcomed its first tenants in April, is already fulfilling the aim of providing collaborative working space to several Leicester businesses. Following a significant refurbishment, funded by Leicester City Council and the European Regional Development Fund, Friars Mill now offers fifteen workspaces for growing businesses.

Formerly home to the Donisthorpe Company, manufacturers of thread and worsted yarn, Friars Mill now boasts bright, airy workspaces, which are awash with architectural features and the latest technology. Current tenants include;

Art Cottage

Rosywood Group

Kinetal Media

Ace Cleaning Company

The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity

Go Travel Solutions

East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire)

LLEP

Tom Munro 2016Tom Munro, Centre Manager at Friars Mill, explained; ‘The buildings have been brought back to life by tenant businesses, which have really made spaces their own. Friars Mill has always benefitted from a unique character and having thriving businesses on site every day completes the transformation process. I have already seen tenants collaborating, which was the underlying reason for Friars Mill’s redevelopment.

‘In addition, the Boiler House conference area will shortly provide a contemporary meeting space with views of the Soar for tenants and visitors alike. Having already hosted a variety of meetings, I look forward to developing a programme of information seminars which will provide tenants with support essential to their business.

Spaces ranging from 1,041 to almost 1,800 square feet are still available and potential tenants are encouraged to arrange a viewing with Tom at their earliest convenience as interest remains high.

By November, the Soar and Riverside Buildings will be completed, which are available for sale or long lease. Both offer between 4,300 and 5,200 square feet of flexible accommodation on the Friars Mill campus. Hassan Gaffar at Leicester City Council will be happy to provide further information and can be reached on 0116 454 2132.
