BUSINESSES in Leicester can find out more about switching to electric vehicles at a free event later this week.
The breakfast event, called Go Ultra Low, takes place at Curve theatre on 10 November, from 8-10am. It’s being hosted by Go Travel Solutions, a local specialist in sustainable travel, on behalf of Leicester City Council.
It will give businesses the chance to find out more about electric vehicles and the benefits they can bring, with presentations from BMW, Nissan, Cenex, E-Car Club and Clean Fleet.
There will also be the chance to test-drive a Nissan LEAF or Sytner BMW i3 electric vehicle.
Cllr Adam Clarke, assistant city mayor for energy and sustainability, will introduce the event. He said: “This is a great chance for local businesses to find out how and why electric cars could benefit them. We’re keen to work closely with businesses in the city to look at cleaner, more sustainable forms of transport.
“Increasing the amount of ultra-low emission vehicles on the roads is one of the key aims of our air quality action plan, so it’s important we do as much as we can to ensure people have the facts and advice they need to make informed choices about the transport they use.”
The city council recently invested in a fleet of 15 new electric vehicles, which are expected to save £1,000 a year each compared to the older diesel models they will replace.
Businesses who would like to attend the breakfast event can sign up for free, and book an electric vehicle test drive, at https://go-ultra-low.eventbrite.co.uk
